Our products are sold directly from Tasmania Mines Pty Ltd to export customers and through Kara Magnetite Pty Ltd for customers in Australia.
Our range
A wide range of magnetite products and other industrial minerals, processed to meet the specifications of our customers worldwide.
Tasmania Mines produces scheelite (Calcium Tungstate) concentrates as a by-product of magnetite processing operations.
The weight coat grade magnetite consists of a high particle density and follows the EN12620 and ASTM C33 gradation for concrete aggregates.
The fine grade magnetite is one of our coarser coal wash grade magnetite products. Our coal wash products have a proven track record as a preferred choice for coal wash plants worldwide.
The superfine grade magnetite is one of our most preferred coal wash grade magnetite products. Our coal wash products have a proven track record as a preferred choice for coal wash plants worldwide.
The maxifine grade magnetite is one of our finest coal wash grade magnetite products. The product is only made on request. Our coal wash products have a proven track record as a preferred choice for coal wash plants worldwide.
The ultrafine grade magnetite is one of our most preferred coal wash grade magnetite products. Our coal wash products have a proven track record as a preferred choice for coal wash plants worldwide.
The K-Max magnetite is one of our purest grades of magnetite from the Kara mine operations. The product is only made on request and is a preferred product for water treatment flocculants and coagulants.
Use cases
From heavy concrete to coal washing and foundries, our customers can be assured of consistent quality to suit their application.
Magnetite has a natural high density and is used to increase the density of concrete for counterweights, radiation shielding, offshore pipeline coatings and more.

Magnetite iron oxide with its high iron content is used as an additive in foundry sands to significantly reduce surface defects and improve casting quality.
View application
Magnetite with its naturally high density and magnetic properties is the preferred choice for dense medium separation processes used in coal washing and metal recycling.
View application
Tasmania Mines magnetite is a natural, high-grade iron source for Ferric Chloride and Ferric Sulphate flocculants used to treat wastewater, effluent and potable water.
View application
Magnetite is a key catalyst in the Haber-Bosch ammonia synthesis and in the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide and organic contaminants for environmental applications.
View application
Magnetite is used as a solid lubricant in automotive brake manufacturing to homogenise the friction coefficient and stabilise heat transfer from pad to disc.
View application
Adding measured amounts of magnetite to primers and paints turns any wall into a magnetic surface after painting.
View applicationThe Kara mine has been productive since 1978 and the mine resources exceed 20Mt. With our current processing facility, overburden and tailings storage facilities our planned mine life is over 25 years.
